Being a Trialist (U9+)
A Trialist is a player who is temporarily “loaned” to another team—typically one in a higher age group or tier—to participate in a game.
Why Trialists Are Encouraged:
EMSA South supports the use of trialists because it benefits:
- The player (exposure to higher-level play)
- The home team (player development)
- The receiving team (roster support)
- The overall program (flexibility and growth)
How It Works:
- Trialists are used on a game-by-game basis.
- A player may participate as a trialist for up to 5 league games per season.
- Coaches may request players from lower tiers or younger age groups when short-handed or evaluating talent.
Being asked to be a trialist is a compliment—it’s an opportunity for your child to experience a more competitive level of play and grow their skills.
