Important: Gym Rules & Practice Guidelines for Indoor Season
Due to stricter facility policies this season, parents and siblings are strongly discouraged from staying in the gyms during practices. This decision is based on past issues, and we want to avoid jeopardizing our access to these valuable practice spaces.
Please take a moment to review the updated gym rules below. These are non-negotiable, and failure to comply may result in immediate cancellation of your gym booking and could impact access for all EMSA teams.
🏫 Gym Access & Conduct
-
Coaches must meet the custodian and complete a pre-practice walk-through of the gym.
-
Do not prop open doors at any time.
-
All outdoor footwear must be removed at the front entrance.
-
Stages and hallways are off-limits — no exceptions. Unauthorized use will result in immediate cancellation.
-
Only water is permitted in the gym. No juice, sports drinks, or food.
-
If a spill occurs, clean it up immediately.
-
Respect your time slot. Your team must be out of the gym promptly at the scheduled end time (e.g., 7:00 means 7:00—not 7:05).
❗Strict Policy Reminder
If any coach, manager, parent, or team member independently arranges additional practice time with a school (outside of EMSA South scheduling), and the City of Edmonton is notified, ALL gym licenses for EMSA South may be revoked.
We will lose access to all gyms. Please do not risk this for everyone.
👤 Practice Monitor Required
It is mandatory for each indoor team to assign a parent or other responsible adult to monitor practices. This ensures safety, rule compliance, and accountability. This fullfills a families volunteer commitment.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain access to these facilities. If we work together and respect these rules, we can ensure a successful and uninterrupted indoor season for all teams.
If you have any questions, please contact the EMSA South office.
